WHERE IT BEGAN
The "U.S. to Ukraine" ministry began in 1990 when the founder, William "Bill" Wharton, traveled to the Soviet Union on a humanitarian trip. He discovered many wonderful people who needed help after the fall of Communism. Since 1991, Bill Wharton has led teams of American Christians in humanitarian services to those who live in Russia and Ukraine. Today, Bill and his wife Lyuba are partnering with Michael "Mike" and Susan Lawson in this ever-growing service to Russia and Ukraine. Hundreds of Ukrainian translators have also joined the cause. Our efforts to feed children and help the elderly and disabled are currently concentrated in the cities of Kiev, Toretsk, Sumy, Ivano-Frankivsk, Gadiach (Ukraine) and Sochi (Russia).
